Today, I attended a ceremony in Ballybrack village to dedicate the obelisk there to the memory of Michael Davitt, founder of the Land League, who lived close by. Davitt’s first monster meeting took place in Irishtown in South Mayo in 1879 and he stayed in my great-great-grandfather’s house, nearby in Doonmacreena Bridge, that night.

I recently had the pleasure of attending the Inaugural Meeting of the John M. Kelly Branch of Young Fine Gael, in the Honorable Society of King’s Inns. The meeting was also attended by John-Paul Phelan TD, Alan Shatter TD, Minister for Justice & Equality, Paschal Donohoe TD and Councillor Ruairí McGinley (Dublin City Council).
