Hi I was really interested to see that DLRCC is running an eco camp and am interested to find out more as my children attend Rathfranham Educate Together NS and i’m sure parents would be interested in seeing if something similiar could be run in our school for this side of the borough
Looking forward to hearing from you
    Regards Erica

  2. Thank you for posting a comment and for your interest in the eco-camp.

I spoke to Dean Eaton yesterday, who is the official within the Council who is responsible for organising the camp. He told me that it proved very successful and that they had very positive feedback from it. It was also covered in The Irish Times (albeit unflatteringly) and you can read that article by clicking on this link: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/features/2010/0713/1224274582438.html.

I have also masked Dean about the possibility of expanding the camp next year and locating it in other areas. He is enthusiastic about the idea and tells me that the 31 children who attended more or less filled the capacity of the camp. The camp took place in Archbishop McQuaid National School in Ballybrack, which worked well because of its facilities for dealing with children. I think that, if there is an appetite for this kind of camp elsewhere, it would be well received.

You can contact Dean Eaton yourself if you require an further details, on deaton@dlrcoco.ie or by telephone on (01) 205-4817.

Please let me know if you need any further information, by e-mailing me on bward@cllr.dlrcoco.ie.
