I was very sorry to hear, this evening, of the death of Declan Costello.
To a large extent, it is the ideas advanced by Costello in The Just Society, that underpin why I chose to join Fine Gael over a decade ago. He was an original thinker and a person dedicated to equality and the rule of law.
I hope his achievements get as much recognition in the coming days as did those of Garrett FitzGerald. A former President of the High Court, Attorney General, Fine Gael TD and author of The Just Society, his brand of thinking will be missed.
Ar dheis Dé do raibh a anam dhílis.
