Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has called for submission for the 2010 Community Awards, and is encouraging community groups from across the County to enter.
The Awards programme is the Council’s way of honouring the enormous variety and wealth of projects being run by community volunteers across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
Community groups can enter in one of seven categories, and a special volunteer prize will also be presented on the Awards night, Thursday November 25th in County Hall, Dún Laoghaire. As part of their entry in the Awards, groups prepare an exhibition that will be displayed in County Hall from Monday November 22nd – Friday November 26th.
All entries will undergo an initial assessment by the judging panel, followed by a site visit to each project, and a final review of the project display by the panel of judges.
The Council welcomes entries from all community groups and submissions in previous years have come from sports clubs, Tidy Towns committees, youth groups, dance schools, and more. The 2009 overall Community Award went to Teenzone, a group of 18 teenagers with moderate intellectual disabilities who met weekly to both socialise and develop skills in the areas of personal safety, money management and more.
Completed application forms must be received no later than Friday 29th October and are available from the Council’s Community Section:
