The Carysfort-Maretimo steam improvement scheme has been unduly delayed, but it now seems works are due to start. Funding was applied for formally on the 8th September 2010 and the Council has now sent the relevant forms to the Department of Environemnt, Heritage and Local Government for confirmation that funding is in place for the designated commencement date.

I have asked the Fine Gael Spokesperson on Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, to table the following Dáil question to the Minister:

“To ask the Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he can confirm that funding is in place for the Carysfort-Maretimo Stream Improvement Scheme and that those funds will be provided to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in plenty of time to allow commencement of works on the designated commencement date, if he anticipates any difficulties with the provision of the funding and if he will make a statement on the matter.”
