Please note that the third DLRCoCo family fun event “Come learn about butterflies”, which was scheduled for Saturday 29th May, has been postponed until Saturday 5th June.

 

Updated details for this event and a second event, which is taking place on the same day, are provided below. These events are being organised by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council as part of the OWLS (Outdoor, Wildlife, Learning, and Survival) programme.

 

1 Trees, Bark and Leaf Rubbingsycamore-leaf

 

Date: Saturday 5th June

Location: Killiney Hill Park – Meeting point: the main car park, just off Killiney Hill Road.

Event Type: Fun and Learning

Time: 11.30 – 1pm

 

Come along and learn how to identify common native Irish trees through bark and leaf rubbing. Take part in the challenge to find the 10 common trees on the tree handout. This event is suitable for all and particularly those with an interest in Trees.

 

2 Come Learn about Butterfliesbutterfly1

 

Date: Saturday 5th June.

Location: Killiney Hill Park – Meeting point: the main car park, just off Killiney Hill Road.

Event type: Practical, survey, learning

Time: 2 – 3.30pm

 

As we stroll about the Park, come along and learn about butterflies, their conservation, and how to encourage them through planting of flowers in your garden. In this event we will be attempting to catch and identify butterflies using butterfly nets and will also be looking out for their caterpillars.
