Run by the Irish Architecture Foundation Open House Dublin 2018 will offer more than 100 buildings to visit, alongside a rich programme of events. All tours and events are free to attend and offer a variety of ways for visitors (of all ages) to experience and learn about Dublin’s buildings and public spaces.

The theme for Open House Dublin 2018 is Tomorrow’s Past: Discover our future heritage, and for the first time, the festival programme will feature a building for every decade from 1700 up to present day. Open House Dublin is Ireland’s largest architecture festival.

Once again, this year, dlr Architects will be taking part, opening up some of the rich architectural heritage of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. This is the 13th year of the Open House festival and dlr will include as part of its offering:

George’s Place in Dún Laoghaire, where there will be a tour of 12 new rapid delivery and highly energy-efficient social housing units and visitors will be able to explore the creation of a new city street and the potential to deliver high quality design under rapid-build conditions;
County Hall, where there will be a tour of a new piece of design within the new part of County Hall building, aimed at enhancing local democracy, including new public waiting and service interaction spaces, a light, open design, incorporating private breakout meeting spaces alongside open glazed links to the new bright open Council Chamber;
Fernhill, where visitors can enjoy an unguided walk through the historic grounds or take part in a guided tour to understand the work done to date and future plans to upgrade the site to a regional park level.
