I was really very saddened to hear of the death this morning of Maurice Nelligan, one of Ireland’s great surgeons and healers. Maurice attended the September meeting of Dún Laoghaire Fine Gael to talk about the health service. I recall that he was in great form that night and he gave us a very interesting and thought-provoking discussion.
Maurice was 73 and I understand he passed away peacefully at home this morning. My thoughts are with his wife, Pat, his son John and the rest of his family, and with his many friends and colleagues.
